OPEN UP

about

UNICORN VOMIT 2 was a blessing from God, keeping me from falling into depression. The habitual depression became old and as I felt it coming, I vividly remember praying to God saying "Please don't let me go back there. I don't wanna be there anymore." Soon after that, the idea to continue the UNICORN VOMIT concept was gifted to me and the first piece written for the project was "OPEN UP".

"OPEN UP" is literally mental vomit that I decided to let freely come through my fingers. I've been policing my thoughts as to try not to be offensive or isolate the audience I do have. But there comes a point in time when certain things need to be said, some uncomfortable conversations need to be had. And I believe "OPEN UP" will be the catalyst for that.

Huge S/O and thank you to UnUsual for helping me get my vision out.

lyrics

Open up
open up, open up
like bright red rosebuds welcoming the sun
in the dawn of a new season
look at you finally stepping into your season
open up
open up, open up
like thick brown thighs spread high and wide
pulsating womb, blood gushing, tears running like black men from responsibility
and BAM! New life is given into a world rich with racism
open up
open up, open up
like hot vagina
snatching the soul of a black man
fear and loathing in Brick City
I can hear his body speak “What the fuck has gotten into me?”
open up
open up, open up
like prison gates, bars double as the mouths of government terrorists
40 years for weed, a walk in the park for a mass shooting
need I mention the lack of melanin
open up
open up, open up
like transwomen asking you to use the right fuckin pronoun
you spit in her face in public
but behind the scene, we all know how you really get down
open up
open up, open up
like coming out to your mother as she sits across from you
adorned in a orange jump suit, skin and bones, you felt her ribcage when she hugged you
but all you wanted to hear was “Son I still love you”
open up
open up, open up
like the mind of a toddler
taking in every “bitch”, “fuck you” and “you ain’t shit” screamed by their parents who just weren’t ready
but you took every inch of that raw dick baby cuz you were ready
open up
open up, open up
like church doors on Sunday morning
broken spirits, sheep and blind men pouring in
sissy keep that sass under control while you’re in the pews
remember God hates fags
open up
open up, open up
Like a fresh can of pop, I mean soda for the northerners
acid dancing down your throat, sugar corroding your veins
if this aint heaven I don’t know what the fuck is
open up
open up, open up
like books on Yoruba and Malcolm X
Newton and Angelou
Achebe scored by D’Angelo
black on black on black on black
open up
open up, open up
like wallets on Black Friday
bellies still full from plantation food
and celebrating another instance of white supremacy
open up
open up, open up
like my heart, swelling, stretched, stitched back together from trauma onset by black men
but still wanting and waiting and willing to fall, to give, to fuckin love again
open up
open up, open up
like my eyes to gaze upon my purpose finally coming into fruition
gone are the days of “I can’t” “No one wants me”, “I’m out of shape”
“I’m ugly” and “I don’t have the money to”
open up
open up, open up
like my mouth to only speak peace unto my brothers and sisters
hold my brother’s hand and fight the war of toxic masculinity
help my sister take another woman’s hair out of her head and greased her muthafuckin scalp bitch
open up
