It is very rare that you'd hear me full out get detailed about sex in my music. In my mind, there's already enough of that out there. And the last thing I wanted to do was be inauthentic, detailing encounters with the opposite sex that I've never experienced just to "make it". Just to fly under the radar. Just so no one knows about the "gay shit". In December 2018, I put the "gay shit" in a song.

"Beat It" was born during the beginning stages of the Black Boy Wonderment sessions. I was alone, up in the 3am hour and decided to not police my thoughts or the flow or the words or the subject matter. I just wanted a nasty house song under my belt. Definitely a risk but one worth taking, being that "Selecta" with Dark Alley Echoes got such a great response.

After producing the beat, writing and recording it, I decided that I wasn't going to release it and I was going to keep it as one of the private songs from the BBW sessions. But I realized that I've hid behind this facade of an artist for long enough and I wanted to do something for me. Something that I resonate with. Something that's gonna be unexpected, unbridled and a little nasty. The Freak-R-Us Edit pays homage to the house hit "Break 4 Love" by Raze. The Drop The Panties edit literally sounds like a man and a woman having sex. Fuckin crazy bro.

Since I felt lead to go down the house route, I am reinstating the maxi-singles for the house era. With a radio edit, album version, instrumental, a remix and a b-side. It's been a lot of work but definitely rewarding.
