After one of my best friends passed away, “Window Seat” really kind of resonated with me and even gave me a little escape to cope with his passing. A lot of the things that were going on with me and around me just kind of poured out all over this beat and I had to record it. It was almost like a goodbye to him as he had never heard any of my music. I hope I made him proud.

“Window Seat” became a serious escapism for me before I moved to Atlanta. That's when I really started to fully understand all that is Badu. I was dealing with a lot of things in my personal life and my spiritually life had completely dwindled and I was seriously contemplating suicide. It seems like suicide is easier to consider than fighting for your life and your peace of mind and spirit. Its easier than fighting for the God in you and allowing your spirit to shine I guess I decided to fight.
