about

Birth place: Frontyard Studios, Chamblee , GA (2011)

I became obsessed with J Dilla during my last 2 and a half years of college. I knew his music but had no idea that he was, in fact, the genius behind it. I felt something when I heard this beat. It was something that just grabbed me by my throat and said “Yo! You got something to say?”And apparently I did.

I have a bad habit of not trusting my instincts and second guessing my judgment. I didnt think that I attacked it well enough to make Dilla proud or make any Dilla fans proud. This is where UnUsual came into play and where he never lets me down (hence number 14 not being on the mixtape). The night I recorded it was the night he got it in his email. His response was something to the groove of “Loco, you did your thing son.”And he is, also, a Dilla fanatic. I dedicate this song to his legacy, his insane arrangements, for teaching us youngbloods how to really really do more than produce. He taught us how to create sonic life forms.
