I was in an insanely depressive state when I wrote this song. I actually recorded this a year ago, when I first started recording with Travis Daniels at Trace Studios. I just put the finishing touches on it within the past few weeks.

I came to a conclusion that in order for me to really embark on this path of artistry, I need to be myself. I can't be anything or anyone else but me as it will resonate through the music. At times we fall into a routine that we think is an aid to our pain but it's only an escape route to actually dealing with your pain. The liquor wasn't helping, it wasn't numbing me enough. As I went on a massive search to fill a void and replace my self-hate and my anger, I found myself deeper in it.

I decided, the day I wrote this, that I was gonna go down the path of releasing my pain and finally give up the ghost of my insecurity, my pity parties, my search for validation.

The best birthday present is a gift that you can give to yourself. My initial intention was to release KING FOR A DAY today but, as you can see, that didn't happen. I began stressing myself about whether or not I made the right decision releasing this song. I thought "Is it too vulgar? Is it not dope enough? Will people like it?" And then I realized there is worse music on the radio with no substance. I hope you like it and download it in celebration of my birthday. This 28th birthday will definitely be one to remember. Thank YOU for being a part of it.
